Introducing the Culture Snob Podcast

Proving myself to always be on the leading edge of late-adopters, Culture Snob has created a podcast for your listening ... amusement?

For the uninitiated, “Podcasting is the method of distributing multimedia files, such as audio programs or music videos, over the Internet for playback on mobile devices and personal computers,” according to Wikipedia. We shan’t be producing videos, but you’ll have plenty of opportunities to listen to my sonorous, authoritative voice. (That last bit about my voice? A joke at my own expense.)

Culture Snob’s audio content is still developing, but right now it comes in three forms: (1) commentary tracks, (2) interviews, and (3) audio versions of essays.

We’ve already recorded commentary tracks for Shattered Glass and I ♥ Huckabees. The idea is that you listen to the commentary track — usually featuring me, Bride of Culture Snob, and film critic Mike Schulz — while watching the movie being discussed. We shall enlighten and entertain ourselves, and maybe you, too. (While I came up with this idea on my own, others have had the same inspiration. In 2002, Flak Magazine offered a track for Mulholland Drive.)

Interviews are just what you’d expect, and so far range from novelist Tim O’Brien to singer Neko Case.

Last and least are audio versions of essays, such as this first attempt with The Squid and the Whale. I’ll get better, I promise.

The RSS feed for the podcast is http://www.culturesnob.com/audio.xml. That’s the address you’ll need to subscribe to the Culture Snob audio feed using iTunes or some other podcast aggregator. (Also, this address will take you to the podcast on iTunes.)

A list of entries with audio content can also be found in the Audio Table of Contents. From there, you can choose items that interest you and download them individually.

As always, I welcome feedback and suggestions by e-mail, through the comments feature on individual entries, and at the Culture Snob suggestion box.
